Prayer
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. - Luke 19:10
Pray that those who are lost would be sought and saved by Jesus.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. - John 3:16-17
Pray that people would understand the depth of God’s love and receive salvation through Jesus.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. - Romans 1:16
Pray for confidence in sharing the gospel and the power of the gospel to save.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20
Pray that you would faithfully share the Gospel with those who don’t know Jesus
Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” - Psalm 82:3-4
Pray for the protection and defense of vulnerable children and for people who will advocate for them.
but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” - Matthew 19:14
Pray that children would be welcomed, valued, protected, and pointed toward Jesus.
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. - Colossians 3:12-14
Pray for foster and adoptive parents to be filled with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and love.
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. - Psalm 139:13-16
Pray for unborn children, thanking God that He knows, sees, and forms each life in the womb.
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7
Pray for women who have unexpectedly found themselves pregnant to experience God's peace in the middle of anxiety and uncertainty.
Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. - Galatians 6:2
Pray that you and Onward would help carry the burdens of women and families facing unexpected pregnancies.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. - Psalm 100:4-5
Thank God for His goodness, steadfast love, and faithfulness throughout every season.
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. - Ephesians 3:20-21
Praise God for what He has done beyond what could have been accomplished through human effort alone, and give Him glory for all that He has done through Onward.
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” - Matthew 9:37-38
Pray that God would raise up and send more people into His harvest through Onward.
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. - 1 Peter 4:10-11
Pray that people would faithfully use their gifts to serve one another and that God would receive the glory.
“I have prayer cards for each of my family members. When I see something they are struggling with, I will ask the Lord to help me find a scripture I can pray over them to help in this specific way. I will consistently pray that scripture over them. When I see answers to my prayers, I will note exactly what I see and when it happened so that I remember to praise God for answered prayers.” - Melissa Chandler
